Buying A Rectified PDA - A Cheaper Alterative Then A New One

Autor: ronhelor

Buying a rectified PDA can be a great alternative for anyone who doesn't have the funds needed to buy a new one, or doesn't want to invest these funds in a new device. This option was not widely available a few years, as the PDA market was smaller. But now the market has grown to over 30 million PDA's sold by the end of 2004.
So the market is now flooded with millions of PDA's, some of them are looking for new owners.
The options are getting a used PDA, and a rectified PDA. In this article we'll cover the rectified PDA option and leave the used PDA's for another time.
To make things clear, a rectified PDA means that the product was returned, repaired, and then sold by the manufacturer or an authorized agent. In many cases, the product you'll be getting will be as good as new, and it'll be hard to see that this is not a new PDA.

The rectified PDA will in most case come with some kind of a warranty from the agent or manufacturer. But you must beware that a guarantee that is given on an auction site will in most cases NOT be honored by the manufacturer. So if you're PDA breaks down after a few weeks, you have to deal with whoever sold it to you.

If you bought the rectified PDA at the manufacturer's site, you'll probably have a solid guarantee, so it's best to look there before you go for the auction site option. The disadvantage here is that the process of rectified PDA's at the manufacturer's site are usually not much lower than the new ones, so you don't gain much form the price perspective.

So the Pro's for getting a rectified PDA are:

1.Usually has Manufacturer's warranty - but you'll need to check if you're buying form someone who is not the manufacturer.
2.Support after the sale is much more likely to be there than of you buy a used PDA.
3.The PDA looks and acts like new product
4.The rectified PDA is obtainable for better price than new, usually with no loss of features. You may want to check for software upgrades.

And the Con's for getting a rectified PDA are:

1.Price of a rectified PDA may not be as low as a "used" PDA
2.The manufacturer's warranty may be no good if bought at auction site. The best thing to do is simply ask the seller, and the manufacturer.

To conclude, buying a rectified PDA is a valid option for people who don't want to invest the full amount. A little caution will be a good practice during the shopping process.
